A Musical Salon for the 21st Century

Our Salastina "home" is an opulent, joyful place of beauty, splendor, and living tradition. By day, we’re world-class performers and studio musicians who’ve played on your favorite films. By night, we’re on a mission to broaden the definition of what classical music was, is, and can be.

Main Series 1: Hidden in Plain Sight

Before Tchaikovsky became the voice of sweeping ballets and symphonies, and before Bartók transformed folk music into a modern language, both composers explored paths less traveled. This program uncovers remarkable early and lesser-known works that reveal familiar musical personalities in surprising ways.

What We Play

Classical, Contemporary, Baroque… if John Cage's infamous 4'33" counts as "Classical Music™," then what doesn't?! When it comes to programming, our guiding principle is simple: we gotta love it, and we gotta wanna share it.

Vital Sounds

Since May of 2020, Salastina musicians, Young Artists, and guest artists have performed free, private, virtual concerts for patients, their families, and medical staff in the Intensive Care Units of UCLA Medical Center and Huntington Health. At Huntington Health, patients receiving these private concrets are those receiving long-term and end-of-life care.

Salastina Composer Collective

Our Composer Collective is a tuition-free professional development program for composers between the ages of 18 and 30. We invite composers living anywhere to apply.
