Our season opener explores a remarkable new work that reflects on the coming together of cultures in societies consisting of many generations of immigrants.  Award-winning local composer Derrick Spiva wrote American Mirror specifically for Salastina to present in our trademark Sounds Genius format.

Resident Host Brian Lauritzen interviews Spiva as the musicians demonstrate the cultural origins of different elements in the work. Brian also guides you, the audience, through your special musical role in the performance of this timely and outstanding piece.

Bridge to Everywhere, an organization that celebrates cultural diversity through interwoven musical traditions, contributes an art installation embodying the spirit and intention of Spiva's modern masterpiece.
